The Hong Kong Pre-School Playgroups Association is a non-profit, member-supported organisation. We operate schools and build standards for local English-medium pre-schools and address issues of importance for Hong Kong pre-primary education through research papers and policy documents.
The Hong Kong Pre-school Playgroups Association is a registered educational charity established in 1979 as a branch of the British Pre-school Playgroups Association. The HKPPA has been an independent entity since 1997 but have maintained our connection with our parent organization in the UK. We support schools which meet our aims and objectives, provide information and advice to early years professionals and parents, and campaign to influence early years education in Hong Kong. The HKPPA currently oversees three early years education settings in Hong Kong: City Kids HKPPA Pre-school, Leapfrog Kindergarten & Playgroup, and Heng Fa Chuen Playgroup.
The HKPPA promotes a developmentally appropriate play-based curriculum derived from the UK Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The HKPPA schools have established programs that nuture the intellectual, social, and physical growth of each child. Children attending HKPPA pre-schools and playgroups develop a foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Because children have varied learning styles and develop at different rates, our schools employ both teacher and child directed activities in small group settings to meet these individual learning needs. The HKPPA is a parent managed organisation that emphasizes parental involvement under the belief that teachers, children, and parents all play important roles in the educational process.
