WELCOME to the City Kids Pre-School website. City Kids is an international English-medium pre-school in Mid-Levels for children aged 2.9 - 6 years old. Our maximum enrolment is 35 children. We have a teacher/child ratio of 1:7.

A "LEARNING THROUGH PLAY" PHILOSOPHY
Our developmental philosophy focuses on the following core beliefs:

• Play is the foundation of academic achievement in that it builds confidence and promotes a sense of accomplishment
• Play is the natural place to develop language, to learn how to handle emotions and to function successfully within a group
• Through Play we support children to achieve the following goals:
  • development of self-esteem and independence
  • a love of learning through exploration
  • development of positive inter-personal relationships
  • enhanchment of language skills
  • development of problem-solving skills and an ability to think creatively and indepedently

Facilities and Programme

• An open stimulating environment with three classrooms and a large balcony
• Access to a spacious outdoor playground
• Children are divided into three developmentally appropriate age groups
• A comprehensive curriculum that is tailored to offer children a variety of activities including: arts & crafts, dramatic play, literacy & numeracy, science, music, cooking and field trips
• Individual Child Portfolios
• Mandarin lessons
• Preparation for Primary: an extended day program for over 4's
• A unique opportunity for parents to participate in the school as a duty parent or commitee volunteer

STAFF

• Three native English-speaking teachers, with registered Child Care Workers Certificate (CCWC) and Qualified Kindergarten Teacher (QKT) with the Education Department Bureau.
• One trained native English-speaking teacher assistant
• Duty parents

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

• City Kids is a parent-run non-profit charity organization
• Parents are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the school, eg, spending a morning with your child, inviting Grandparents along and joining us for regular celebrations.
• Duty parent role: parents may choose to help out on one pre-assigned morning per week. These parents receive a fee-reduction for their children.

PAINT & PLAY AFTERNOONS

We are excited to offer a new afternoon program - Paint & Play Afternoons will involve both activities,  for “Paint”, art projects will be available for all children to partake in, but will be specifically geared for 3-6 year olds.  “Play” will be semi-structured learn through play, similar to morning P&T sessions.  Toys and activities will be set up for children 10 months – 6 years.  Children attending these sessions need to be accompanied by an adult.
